Over the past four years; I have worked in four different newsrooms, all with within the resillient Motor City.

I have experience in digital, radio and television news. I’m dedicated to using the news to create empathy and awareness for situations we might not otherwise understand.

I believe in reporting on what happens when a story is no longer “hard” news. All of the reporters rush to the scene of a fire. But what happens to the family whose home burned down three months later, after the smoke and the ash have settled?

As a fellow reporter once told me, the reporter has the luxury to pack up and leave at the end of the shoot. The people whose stories I’m telling do not. My news story is their ongoing reality. I remember her words every time I write a news story.
